SITA BagMessage is a single worldwide solution for baggage messaging. Designed for airlines and airports, it simplifies the sending of baggage messages from airline hosts to mission critical baggage systems.

Keeping track of passengers’ bags is a priority for the air transport industry. Every day, airlines and airports exchange millions of data messages on the location of baggage. BagMessage offers a global, fully managed and secure baggage message distribution service.

SITA BagMessage includes:

  • Standard interface between airline departure control systems (DCS) and airline and airport baggage systems
  • Routing of all IATA baggage information messages as per recommended practice 1745
  • Managing everything for the customer and charging only the recipient, on a per-bag basis
  • Global coverage with 24/7/365 support

BagMessage eliminates the need for an airport baggage system operator to manage network connections to multiple airline customers. It also removes the need for airport-based hardware and onsite maintenance.

BagMessage offers a fully redundant bi-directional connection through which airline DCS and airport baggage systems can communicate. It allows airlines and airports to connect via Message Queue (MQ) or the Internet (TCP/IP) on IP-VPN legacy protocols, reducing Type B messaging costs.
